DOWNHILL DAYS with Jordi Bago @ Borovets Mountain Bike Park

In EVENT REPORTS by admin / 02/07/2014 / 0 Comments

Teaming up with our friends from Bike House and Spanish pro downhill/enduro rider Jordi Bago, Borovets Mountain Bike Park hosted a two-day DH training camp. Almost 20 riders of all ages and skill levels signed up to receive useful advice and race-proven know-how from Jordi, who shared his skills and discussed all aspects of gravity riding and racing with his trainees. Despite misty weather during Saturday morning, the rain gods spared us from another soaking, and by saturday afternoon we were all enjoying near-perfect trail conditions & blue skies over our heads. By sunday the trails have even become dusty on some spots, but this did not hold anybody back and the training continued in full force. Jordi started both days off with a track walk, discussing line choice and how to link up different sections. After that it was time to get on the bikes and session different parts of the tracks (Rocky on saturday, and a mix of Rocky/Need For Speed on sunday). Then it was time to do full runs, with Jordi following riders to observe and correct their line choice, technique and position on the bike. Borovets Mountain Bike Park’s latest trail additions proved to be really fun to ride and progress on, offering a huge variety of natural and man-made obstacles. All in all, it was a great weekend, big thanks to all who attended, the event organisers from Bike House and Jordi Bago himself! Stay tuned for the event’s video in a few days!

Report: Bonus Hunters – Season Opening 2014 @ Borovets Mountain Bike Park

In EVENT REPORTS by admin / 06/06/2014 / 0 Comments

Now that the season opening day in Borovets Mountain Bike Park is behind us, we can safely say that season 2014 is ON! A big THANK YOU for all riders who braved the mud and the rain (the riding was quite awesome), it was good to see you in such large numbers! Your excitement made our season opening day pretty special… As expected, a handful of riders who decided to come early gathered most prizes in our little Bonus Hunters game, but there are still some leftovers – 2 two-day lift pass vouchers and 2 beer power-ups still remain hidden somewhere in the woods… Come and get them!

Bonus Hunters – Season Opening 2014 @ Borovets Mountain Bike Park

In EVENT NEWS by admin / 20/04/2014 / 0 Comments

Barely days after the ski season in Borovets, while it’s still snowing in the upper parts of the mountain, Borovets Mountain Bike Park will open it’s lifts and mountain bike tracks for business. It’s time to get back on the bikes for some mud, trees, roots, rocks, and a hell of a good time.
The Park will start working on 1st of May and will be open on all weekends and national holidays until the snow melts off the higher altitude trails.
To celebrate the start of the season, and to make up for the upper part of the mountain that’s still buried in snow, during the season opening day we’re inviting all riders to take part in Borovets Bonus Hunters – a fun little game that’s gonna send you out on the trails gathering various bonuses and power-ups, quite like a video game.

The upper parts of the mountain and the sweet trails there are still buried in snow, but we came up with a fun little game to make up for it. It’s called Borovets Bonus Hunters and it’ll send you out on a quest to collect bonus items and power-ups along the tracks, much like a video game.

The rules are simple:
1. As usual, stay safe.
2. There will be various items to gather on all open tracks. It will be up to you to find them.
3. Photos of each item’s location from a on-track point of view will be posted on the stations of the Sitnyakovo chairlift, in the Adventure Centre in Rila Hotel, and at lift pass sell points.
4. Locating each item will require to stop, get off the bike, and look around. As soon as you stop, pull yourself aside and don’t be a track obstacle.
5. Exact item location on each spot will be marked with signs, small bits of track tape or other unusual markings. Keep your eyes sharp.
6. Have fun. This is NOT a race, so don’t stress. There’s no grand prize, just a few small gifts from us and our partners to celebrate the start of the season.
